Year 5 enjoyed a gloriously sunny trip to Decoy Country Park to learn about the origins of Teignmouth's most important export - ball clay.
The class were shown around by a pair of Simons who were extremely helpful in explaining where the clay came from and how it was dug out. In addition, the children explored the nature reserve and saw themselves how the former clay pit has been returned to the wild.
The highlight of the trip was when the rangers found some clay for everyone to take a sample home. Some of the class have used the clay to make models to show Redhills pupils when they visit us for the beach day.
