Last week, Bea, Sadie-May and Eugenia from Year Six had an amazing experience at a recording studio, being interviewed for a talking magazine. Roundabout is a monthly talking magazine which is sent out to people with sight problems or those who are unable to hold a newspaper or magazine. It is run by Hear and Now, a lottery funded project in Dawlish which also produces a weekly talking newspaper.
They pupils were talking about their recent project, working with Volunteering in Health and writing to some of the people in the local community who are lonely or isolated. They were joined by Chloe Myers (Manager at Volunteering in Health) and Dorith Day (one of the clients receiving letters).
It was an incredible opportunity and the children are hoping to stay in touch with the radio station so that they can share more about the project and share if they have kept writing to their pen pals after primary school.
